What Kerry meant
The Nov. 2 letter Kerry's comments mischaracterizes Sen. John Kerry's statements. Once his comments were put into context, any reasonable person should have understood that they were not intended to cast aspersions on troops in Iraq, but rather to criticize President Bush.
People should compare Kerry's distinguished military service with Bush's questionable military record and Vice President Cheney's lack of service.
